What does it mean to design for the long term?

The Power of Endurance in Design.
Presented by IDEA 2026 in partnership with Miele and Signature Appliances.

What does it mean to design for the long term? That was the question put to a distinguished panel of Sydney architects and designers at the Miele Specialist Showroom by Bing Lee in Drummoyne, marking the first event of the IDEA 2026 program.

Moderated by Michael Drescher (DKO, IDEA 2026 jury chair), the panel brought together Victoria Judge (SJB), Ben Pomroy (Rothelowman) and Marcus Greening (i2c Architects) for a conversation spanning build-to-rent design, material durability, sustainability as financial strategy, and the idea of legacy architecture: building not for a trend or a transaction, but for the people who will live there for decades to come.
